Education Block Grant
The Indian Springs Community Chest (GISCC) has initiated a program aimed at providing targeted assistance to the schools and classrooms within its boundaries and that Indian Springs students attend. The purpose is to enrich and provide opportunities that may not otherwise be possible to individual classrooms, or the school and/or community
at-large. There is a desire to partner with the Department of Education to reach and to serve as many students
as possible thru this program, but it starts with understanding the needs. The program consists of a “block grant”
from money provided by our donors, which can be made available to one or more of the top qualifying applications.
From the annual amount of the block grant determined by the GISCC Board, the GISCC Review Committee will determine what portion of the fund will be made available based on the quality of the application and benefits that could be derived.
Block Grant Process. The following outlines the basic process; however, the process will be amended as needed.
Ideally, we can complete the process so that grants can be presented early in the school year.
(1) Schools notified of grant program.
(2) Applications submitted.
(3) GISCC Grant Committee reviews.
(4) Finalist invited to provide presentation.
(5) Winners notified.
Guidelines. Please use the following as basic guidelines and information in submitting applications.
(1) Current eligible schools: Indian Springs Elementary, Sullivan Central Middle/Innovation Academy, West Ridge High
(2) Grant information is provided to the principal at each eligible school to distribute.
(3) There is no limit to the number of applications submitted from a particular school or teacher(s); however, an internal school committee should review and only forward the top applications.
(4) Thoroughly complete all information on the application. When describing “how grant will be used”, it would not be enough to say buy computers, but must explain how the computers will be used to enrich the education and provide applicable learning. As an illustration only, one might submit, the grant money will be used to purchase 200 kindles to
replace outdated textbooks for the 5th grade class.
(5) Submit online grant application or scan and email application to: iscommunitychest@gmail.com.
